Esperanto has been spoken in Valencia since 1903, and we are still at it: teaching it, spreading it and meeting up to speak it. You don’t need to know anything to start, and you don’t have to pay anything to learn it: anyone can take part.
The pages linked from here are in Esperanto. The rest of the site is in Valencian, Spanish and Esperanto.
What we do
- We teach Esperanto, with our own free materials. Not sure where to start? See what Esperanto is and then how to learn it.
- We meet on Wednesdays, from 11:00 to 13:00, at our Kafo-Kunveno, for a coffee and a chat in Esperanto. This year we start on 7 October. You don’t have to travel to speak Esperanto: join our groups — you don’t need to know Esperanto.
- We keep the group’s library and the issues of Valencia Luno (1960-2020), and we now use the site for our publications.
- We hold open events: talks, book presentations and activities with other organisations. What is coming is in our calendar; what we have already done is told in Publications, and what others have said about us is in In the media.
- We do research on Esperanto: for example the catalogue of the 1,423 books that mention it and what 108,009 books say about Esperanto.
- We look back at the past, think about the future and act in the present.
Do you like what we do? There are many ways to help the group, and you can also become a member of the association.
And if you want more
Zamenhof came to Valencia in 1909. There was a chair at the University, a street named after the doctor, congresses, prison and silence. All of it, date by date and with its sources, is in the history of Esperanto in Valencia.
And those who did all that have names: 92 lives, from 1900 to today, in Biographies: the group’s Esperantists. Do you know something that is not in our history? Tell us so we can document it and it is not forgotten.
